Care for Partners
- Do you feel alone, isolated and worn down at times?
- Do you feel the professionals get the better of you?
- Do you wonder if you have lost yourself somewhere?
Caring for others can be hard work. Over a long period of time it can begin to erode the confidence of the carer. While carers do a selfless job through their love for the person they care for, they can give more than they get. Here is the chance to recharge their batteries and stoke up some reserves.
Why attend the Confidence for Carers workshop?
The workshopis developed to support the carer by building up the confidence and sense of self. It is geared to assist finding yourself and your voice, particularly in dealing with authority and professionals you may need to work with. Another focus of the workshop is creating awareness of time for self while caring.
What will I learn from the workshop?
The workshop provides you with skills to become confident in self and in communicating with others. It also provides an understanding of behaviour and emotions while learning how to deal with stress. It concentrates on the things you don’t learn from books and advice lines. How to look after yourself while you are looking after others.
How will the workshop help me?
Carers who have attended the workshop say that one of the biggest benefits is to be able to talk to others who are in the same situation. Another benefit is in taking time to acknowledge strengths and tasks that are being carried out by yourselves routinely without awareness. Also carers report the benefit of being able to work more successfully with professionals.
What if I don’t attend?
Zig Ziglar says: "If we keep on doing what we've always done we'll keep on getting what we've always got." Imagine feeling more confident and more aware of yourself - how could that benefit your position as a carer?
